Alginate

Algin / Alginic Acid

Algin (or alginic acid) is a natural polysaccharide, i.e., a chain of sugar molecules, which occurs in highly concentrated form in brown algae (laminaria digitata). Alginic acid has detoxifying and skin-clearing properties. Through a kind of magnetic effect, it attracts and binds toxins and dead skin cells, because the calcium in skin cells and many toxins are positively charged, while alginic acid is strongly negatively charged. As a marine polysaccharide, it can also bind water and therefore provides deep hydration. The Detox Algae Gel contains the active ingredient algin from French brown algae.
