Porphyra umbilicalis ist eine Salzwasseralge, die in Küstenregionen wächst und deshalb extremer Sonnenstrahlung ausgesetzt ist. Sie enthält besondere Aminosäuren, die UVA-Strahlung absorbieren können. Dazu binden diese freie Radikale und stabilisieren sie in ihrer Ringstruktur. Die porphyra umbilicalis ist als gelbe Alge im Yellow Serum enthalten.
