Herbal Actives and Extracts
In this section, you will find herbal active ingredients and natural extracts that we use in our products (some from certified organic cultivation, some biotechnologically prepared).
Algin (or alginic acid) is a natural polysaccharide, meaning a chain of sugar molecules, that occurs in highly concentrated form in brown algae (laminaria digitata). Alginic acid has detoxifying and skin-clarifying properties. Through a kind of magnetic effect, it attracts and binds toxins and dead skin cells, because the calcium in skin cells and many toxins are positively charged, while alginic acid is strongly negatively charged. As a marine polysaccharide, it can also bind water and therefore provides deep hydration. The Detox Algae Gel contains the active ingredient algin from French brown algae.
Aloe Vera
The "desert lily" Aloe Vera has been used for hundreds of years for its regenerative properties. Inside, it contains plant sap, a clear gel with about 99% water and 1% amino acids, enzymes, lipids, and vitamins A, C, E, and B12.
The enzymes contained in Aloe Vera have anti-inflammatory properties, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, copper, selenium, and zinc support the skin's metabolism. Thanks to its nutrient-rich sap, Aloe Vera thus has moisturizing, skin-soothing, and antibacterial properties, as well as anti-aging effects. We source our Aloe Vera from controlled organic cultivation. It is an important active ingredient in the Cleansing Milk, Tonic Sensitive, Day Cream, Night Cream, and Eye Cream, as well as the Fluid from the GREEN series.
Water (also Aqua denat., Aqua dest.)
Water is an important component of the human body. The skin, in particular, stores large quantities of water in its network of hyaluron, collagen, and elastin, thus ensuring elasticity, suppleness, and a pleasant skin feel. Water is also an optimally skin-compatible solvent and a component of creams, which are a mixture of water and fat. It allows salts, such as Sodium Hyaluronate, to dissolve and thus convert into hyaluronic acid. Water also dissolves other active ingredients, such as glycerin, which is important for the skin's barrier function. However, tap water is never used in cosmetics, as it contains, for example, lime, which can inhibit the effectiveness of the active ingredients used. Therefore, distilled or demineralized water is always used, or some manufacturers also use thermal water enriched with trace elements and minerals. We use purified water in almost all our products.
Shea Butter
Shea butter is extracted from the nuts of the African shea tree. It is a vegetable fat with a high content of unsaturated fatty acids. The long-chain fatty acids contained in shea butter (such as stearic acid or linoleic acid) are similar to human sebum. As a result, it supports the skin barrier in its function, helps stimulate collagen synthesis in the skin, and provides moisture, antioxidants, and suppleness. Organic shea butter is included in the following products from the GREEN series: Cleansing Milk, Eye Cream, Night Cream and Fluid.
Calendula officinalis is rich in two groups of plant-based antioxidants: carotenoids and flavonoids. These have anti-inflammatory properties and help protect the skin from free radicals. Due to its anti-inflammatory effects, calendula is often used in ointments and gels for wound healing. Sourced from certified organic cultivation, the calendula extract in the Cleansing Milk and Eye Cream from the GREEN series has soothing, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties.
Capryhydroxamic acid is an amino acid derived from coconut oil and used in natural cosmetics. It has fungicidal properties, but also acts as a stabilizer and chelating agent. This amino acid is used in the Hyaluronic Acid Ampoules.
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a so-called neutral oil. It is plant-based and is a high-quality alternative to mineral oils or silicones. Unlike these synthetic products, neutral oil contains medium to long-chain fatty acids, which supply the skin with valuable lipids and thus contribute to its suppleness. A neutral oil also serves to carry fat-soluble active ingredients, such as many vitamins, into the skin. A neutral oil is non-irritating, meaning it does not irritate the skin. We use neutral oil in our peeling from the GREEN series.
Papaya Extract
Papaya contains the enzyme "papain," which can help shed dead skin cells. Since these could otherwise clog pores or cause a dull complexion, papaya promotes a fresh, even skin tone. The fruit is also rich in vitamins A & C, which can stimulate the skin's collagen production. Organically grown papaya extract is used in the Tonic Sensitive and Fluid from the GREEN series.
Cellulose gum is a plant-derived thickener. We use it to support the structure of the algae pad. This way, the algae gel arrives at your home as a "dry product". This not only eliminates the need for preservatives but also allows for more resource-efficient production and packaging.
Ceramides are long-chain lipids (fats) that form an important part of our stratum corneum. They strengthen the natural skin barrier, thus preventing moisture loss and forming a "protective shield" against external invaders. They are also used in natural cosmetics, as they improve the skin's moisture supply and suppleness and keep the skin barrier intact. Ceramides are suitable for all skin types, but have a particularly good effect on dry, stressed, and sensitive skin. We use the active ingredient Ceramide NP (Ceramide 3) in the Moisturizing Mask from the GREEN series.
Citric Acid
Citric acid is used in cosmetics for various purposes. It has a mild astringent effect, meaning it tightens pores, helps to clarify the complexion, and is also used to regulate the pH value of cosmetics. A skin-neutral pH value is in the slightly acidic range, at about 5.5. This value makes cosmetics similar to the skin's acid mantle, which helps it to neutralize bacteria, viruses, and fungi. We use citric acid in the Cleansing Milk, the Tonic Sensitive, and the Fluid from the GREEN series.
Grapefruit Extract
Cold-pressed from grapefruit peels, Citrus Paradisi Fruit Extract captivates with its fresh, zesty scent. On the skin, it has an astringent effect, tightening pores and providing clarifying properties. It can also stimulate skin metabolism. Grapefruit extract from controlled organic cultivation is included in the Toner of the GREEN series.

Soybean Oil
Glycine Soja Oil is a rich, natural oil. It has cell-regenerating and lipid-replenishing properties, making it ideally suited for very dry and mature skin. We source our soybean oil from certified organic farming. Soybean oil is found in the Eye Cream from the GREEN Series.
Hydrogenated Castor Oil
Hydrogenated castor oil is an excellent alternative to microplastics because, as a natural substance, it is biodegradable. When hardened, castor oil forms a particularly smooth surface. This gently removes dead skin cells and impurities during massage without causing micro-lesions in the skin. We obtain the castor oil in our peeling from controlled organic cultivation.
Hydrogenated Coconut Oil
Hydrogenated coconut oil improves the texture of cosmetic products and helps to make the skin soft and supple. It is found in the Peeling and Moisturizing Mask from the GREEN series.
Hydrogenated Olive Oil
Hydrogenated olive oil is used in cosmetics as a thickening agent and consistency regulator. It also helps to nourish the skin. As a natural product from controlled organic cultivation, it has very good skin compatibility and biodegradability. Hydrogenated olive oil is contained in the night cream from the GREEN series.
Mahonia Root Extract
The extract from the root of the Mahonia plant is known for its skin-soothing and antimicrobial properties. In the peeling, the extract helps protect the skin from acne-causing bacteria and calms it after mechanical irritation.
Olive Oil
Olive oil has been used for centuries for its beneficial properties in skin care. It consists of various fatty acids and thus particularly nourishes dry skin. Olive oil is rich in linoleic acid, which has moisturizing effects, and oleic acids, which contribute to smooth, supple skin. It is also rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and the valuable squalane. To preserve the valuable active ingredients of this natural product, we only use cold-pressed olive oil from controlled organic cultivation. It is contained in the night cream from the GREEN series.

It is rich in triglycerides, high-quality fatty acids, as well as vitamins A, D, and E, carotenoids, and the skincare favorite squalane. As a result, avocado oil provides the skin with intense, long-lasting moisture, helps to make it smoother and more supple, and has antimicrobial effects. We use organically grown avocado oil in the Day Cream from the GREEN series.
Plantain Extract
The extract of European plantain is a proven remedy in natural medicine and is mainly used there for wound healing. It contains the plant antioxidant group flavonoids as well as bitter substances, silicic acid and the glycoside aucubin. This gives plantain anti-inflammatory and astringent properties – ideal for our peeling.
Porphyra umbilicalis is a saltwater algae that grows in coastal regions and is therefore exposed to extreme solar radiation. It contains special amino acids that can absorb UVA radiation. In addition, these bind free radicals and stabilize them in their ring structure. Porphyra umbilicalis is included as a yellow algae in the Yellow Serum.
Almond Oil
Cold-pressed from almond kernels, almond oil is a valuable active ingredient in natural cosmetics. Almond oil contains several different fatty acids, including oleic acid (neutral oil) and linoleic acid. These support important cell functions, strengthen the skin barrier, and aid in the absorption of other active ingredients from cosmetics. Almond oil is also rich in vitamins B & E and carotenoids (a group of plant antioxidants), has a soothing effect, and gives the skin a pleasantly soft, supple feeling. Our almond oil comes from certified organic farming and is included in the following products from the GREEN series: Cleansing Milk, Moisturizing Mask, Fluid, Day Cream, Night Cream.

Humectants and Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs)
From Hyaluron to Sodium PCA, here you'll learn about the moisturizing ingredients we use in our formulations.
Isoamyl laurate is a lipid (fat) with skin-caring properties that can be obtained from plants. This makes it a very good alternative to silicones or mineral oils. Isoamyl laurate is contained in the fluid from the GREEN series.
Lactic Acid
Lactic acid is a Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) and helps the epidermis to retain moisture, keeping it smooth and supple. It also helps to support the skin's natural acid mantle, thereby regulating the skin's pH value. Furthermore, lactic acid is one of the alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), which have keratolytic properties. This makes it an ideal ingredient for the peeling, the moisturizing mask, day and night creams from the GREEN series.
Glycerin is a humectant and part of all natural lipids. As a Natural Moisturizing Factor, glycerin is also part of our skin and helps it maintain a good moisture balance, keeping it pleasantly supple and elastic. Glycerin can be obtained from many different animal or plant-based substances. We source our glycerin from rapeseed oil. It is used in the Cleansing Milk, the Tonic Sensitive, the Peeling, Day, Night, and Eye Cream, as well as the Fluid from the GREEN series.
The salt of hyaluronic acid can come in different forms but always has the same INCI name: Sodium Hyaluronate. In high molecular weight (or long-chain) hyaluronic acid, the large molecules of hyaluronic acid do not penetrate the skin but instead form a moisture-binding film on the skin's surface. This film has an anti-inflammatory effect and helps to even out the complexion. The skin is optimally moisturized, appearing plumper and firmer. You can find high molecular weight hyaluronic acid in products from our GREEN Series, in the Hyaluronic Algae Serums, and the Hyaluron Ampoules.
Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid
The salt of hyaluronic acid can come in different forms but always has the same INCI name: Sodium Hyaluronate. With low molecular weight (or short-chain) hyaluronic acid, the tiny molecules of hyaluronic acid penetrate the skin. As a substance naturally occurring in the body, it helps strengthen connective tissue, support important cell functions, and replenish the skin's natural moisture reservoirs. Thus, low molecular weight hyaluronic acid has an immediate refreshing effect. With regular use over several weeks, the skin is naturally plumped from within, appearing more even, smoother, and firmer. Our Pure Hyaluronic Intense Serum is a pure, highly concentrated low molecular weight hyaluronic acid. Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid is also found in the Hyaluron Ampoules.
The salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (Sodium Pyrrolidone Carboxylate Acid) is mostly derived from sugarcane. It belongs to the Natural Moisturizing Factors, which keep the skin naturally moist. Sodium PCA has very good moisture-binding properties and thus supports the skin's suppleness and moisture. It is contained in the facial toner from the GREEN series.

Emulsifiers, Solubilizers, and Other Auxiliaries
Sometimes you have to connect what cannot be connected naturally: Like oil and water. Here you will get to know some of the helpers.
Alcohol (also Alcohol denat.)
Alcohol (also denatured alcohol, which has been rendered unusable for consumption) is used as a solvent or extractant primarily for natural extracts. It helps preserve the product and kill bacteria. Alcohol also dissolves fats and transports certain substances into the skin.
Both the concentration and the overall formulation play a role in alcohols. Our formulations contain only a small proportion of alcohols.
Butylhydroxytoluene is a widely used active ingredient in medicines, foods, and cosmetics. We use it in minimal concentration as an antioxidant in our Algae Gel to ensure product stability.
Cetearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol with a waxy consistency. As a refatting ingredient, it makes the skin soft and supple. It is also one of the components that gives a cream its texture – in our case the Peeling, the Moisturizing Mask and the Eye Cream from the GREEN series.
Cetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol with very good tolerability. It occurs, for example, in vegetable oils such as palm oil. In cosmetics, it is used as a consistency enhancer and emulsifier, meaning it gives a product a specific texture or makes oil and water miscible. We source the raw materials for cetyl alcohol through Mass Balance. This program observes and respects both ecological and social standards. Cetyl alcohol is contained in the following products of the GREEN series: Cleansing Milk, Eye Cream, Day Cream, Night Cream and Fluid.
Glyceryl Caprylate is a versatile ingredient that is very well tolerated by the skin. It can be obtained from various plant and seed oils, has a stabilizing, moisture-regulating, and refatting effect. In addition, it has excellent antimicrobial properties and is effective against bacteria and yeasts. Glyceryl Caprylate is found in the Cleansing Milk, Day Cream and Fluid from the GREEN series.
Glyceryl Stearate is an emulsifier, which means it allows ingredients that are not miscible (such as oil and water) to be mixed. It can be made from various vegetable oils and leaves a smooth, soft feeling on the skin. It is contained in the peeling and the moisturizing mask from the GREEN series.
Glyceryl Stearate SE is an emulsifier, which means it allows ingredients that are normally immiscible (such as oil and water) to mix better. It can be made from various vegetable oils and leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft. It is included in the eye cream and night cream from the GREEN series.
Glyceryl Stearate Citrate is an emulsifier with citric acid that allows water-soluble and fat-soluble ingredients to be mixed together. It is used in the Cleansing Milk, the Fluid, and the Day Cream from the GREEN series.
Lecithin is a phospholipid that allows fats and water to combine. It is found in vegetable oils and is used as an emulsifier in cosmetics. In addition, lecithin helps active ingredients penetrate the skin better and has refatting properties. Lecithin is contained in the eye cream from the GREEN series.
Myristyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol with a waxy consistency. As an emulsifier, it helps to combine water-soluble and oil-soluble substances. It also acts as a consistency enhancer, providing a pleasant texture and a soft skin feel. It is contained in the moisturizing mask from the GREEN series.
PEG-40 Sorbitan Peroleate is an emulsifier derived from castor oil. It helps the ingredients of the Algae Pad to mix well in the emulsion with water, and specifically also ensures that the gel retains its moisture during the massage.
Pentylene Glycol is a dihydric alcohol of biological origin. Even in high doses, this substance has a moisturizing effect, unlike conventional alcohols which are drying. In addition, it has an antimicrobial effect, fighting bacteria and fungi to keep the product pure. Pentylene Glycol is contained in the Hyaluronic Acid Ampoules.
This ingredient is an emulsifier that helps bind oil- and water-soluble substances together. It is contained in Tonic Sensitive.
This ingredient is an emulsifier that helps to combine oil-soluble and water-soluble substances. It is found in the Peeling and the Moisturizing Mask from the GREEN series.
Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate
Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate is an emulsifier of natural origin. It combines liquid ingredients that are normally immiscible and is contained in the Hyaluronic Acid Ampoules.
PPG-15 Stearyl Ether is an alcohol and emulsifier of biological origin. In the Algae Gel, it is used as a texturizer, which is important for longer massages. It also helps to soften the skin and supports its moisturization.
Propanediol (or propylene glycol) is a high-quality alcohol. It is used in small amounts as a solvent so that the different active ingredients can work together ideally. It is contained in the Hyaluronic Acid Ampoules.
Rayon is synthesized from plant cellulose. It has swelling and viscosity-regulating properties. In our Algae Gel, it aids in the transformation from solid to gel-like.
Microsilver
Silver has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Put simply, silver disrupts vital processes of bacterial cells, viruses, and fungi, killing them. In cosmetics, microsilver and nanosilver (also known as colloidal silver) are mainly used. These "types of silver" differ in the size of their particles and their effectiveness. In our Pure Hyaluronic Intense Serum, we use the finest microsilver particles.
Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate is an emulsifier based on plant-derived lactic acid. In the Cleansing Milk from the GREEN series, it helps to combine fat-soluble and water-soluble ingredients.
Salt of Phytic Acid
The salt of phytic acid is predominantly extracted from rice bran. In skincare, it is used as a stabilizer or so-called chelating agent. Chelates bind metallic ions in water. This is important to deprive microbes of their breeding ground and keep the formulation stable. Phytic acid is therefore included in all products of the GREEN series.
Stearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol and is used in cosmetics for various purposes. It can improve the miscibility of oil and water as an emulsifier, positively affect product stability, or be used as a surfactant to cleanse the skin. In the GREEN Series, it performs various functions and is used in cleansing milk, peeling, moisturizing mask, and the creams and lotions.
Xanthan gum is a thickening agent that is also used in the food industry. As a polysaccharide, it binds moisture and swells as a result. In this way, xanthan gum changes the viscosity of a texture and makes it thicker. We use xanthan gum in almost all products in the GREEN Series.
